Purpose and ScopeProvide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. Plan, develop, and teach Professional Pilot courses in a manner that facilitates student learning.
Essential Job Functions- Teach Professional Pilot courses at various times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Use a course syllabus in accordance with institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, or via electronic communication.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and inform them of progress.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Ensure safety standards are met in accordance with FAA, AABI, and institutional requirements.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership and collaborative facilitation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies.
- Commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning.
- Experience developing and implementing instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology use.
- Ability to engage students in their learning.
Work is sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items (up to 10 pounds). Requires the ability to give and receive detailed information through oral communication.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other office equipment.
- Work in climate-controlled classroom or lab.
- Hours vary by class schedule; instructors must be available outside class instruction.
- Associate degree or higher in any field.
- Current FAA certifications:
Certified Flight Instructor Airplane and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument or both Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor. - At least 3 years of nonteaching industry experience.
$69.74 per contact hour.
