Purpose and ScopeThe faculty member will provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses in a manner that facilitates student learning.
Essential Job Functions- Teach Economics courses at various times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Use a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and inform students in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork, and facilitation style.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies.
- Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and a dynamic climate for life‑long learning.
- Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement and learning communities.
- Use of effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
The work is sedentary, with some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
- Work in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal safety hazards.
- Hours vary with class time; availability outside of class instruction is required.
- Master’s degree in Economics or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Economics.
$55.44 per contact hour.
