This full-time role reports to the Lower School Division Head.
Our Regis Community Founded in 1991, The Regis School of the Sacred Heart is an independent, Catholic School where boys in grades 3 Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth grade become scholars and gentlemen in the Sacred Heart tradition. 1. Instructional Planning & Delivery Develop and implement a comprehensive Spanish curriculum aligned with appropriate standards and language acquisition best practices.
Use age-appropriate, multisensory, and immersive teaching strategies (songs, movement, storytelling, games, role-play).Emphasize oral communication, listening comprehension, vocabulary development, and early second-language literacy foundations.
Integrate cultural awareness, traditions, and global perspectives into lessons.
Differentiate instruction to meet varying readiness levels and learning styles.
Incorporate technology and interactive tools to enhance engagement.
Plan, organize, and facilitate developmentally appropriate, boy-centered instruction. Possess a love for teaching boys and utilize boy-friendly teaching pedagogy.
2. Early Childhood Language Development Utilize play-based and experiential learning strategies appropriate for PK3–Kindergarten students.
Reinforce foundational language exposure through repetition, rhythm and music, active body engagement, and visual supports.
Foster positive first experiences with foreign language learning.
Encourage confidence in pronunciation and conversational participation.
3. Lower School Language Development Build progressively on vocabulary, sentence structure, and conversational skills.
Introduce basic reading and writing skills in Spanish appropriate to grade level.
Design assessments that evaluate comprehension, speaking ability, and written skills.
Plan and implement curriculum that is vertically aligned throughout early childhood and lower school, and that prepares students for the rigors of middle school foreign language.
4. Classroom Environment & Student Management Create a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment suited to boys’ developmental needs.
Establish, model, and practice clear behavioral expectations and routines.
Promote respect, responsibility, and cultural appreciation.
Support social-emotional development through positive reinforcement and relationship-building.
5. Assessment & Reporting Administer formative and summative assessments aligned to curriculum goals.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, including grades for report cards.
Provide timely feedback to students and parents.
Prepare written reports and report cards, and participate in parent-teacher conferences when requested.
6. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with Early Childhood and Lower School faculty to integrate cross-curricular themes.
Participate in division meetings, professional learning communities, and committees.
Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
