Adjunct faculty are hired on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon system needs. Adjuncts may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year and are responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives.

• Teach Developmental English courses at a variety of times and locations.
• Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
• Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
• Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
• Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, or using electronic communication.
• Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
• Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

The work is primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

• Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment; standard discipline equipment as applicable.
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
• Work performed in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal safety hazards.
• Hours vary with class schedule; instructors must be available outside of class instruction.

• Bachelor’s degree in English, literature, creative writing, or a related field, or Master’s degree in the same, or relevant teaching/training experience.

$55.44 per contact hour.
