Adjunct faculty are hired on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon system needs. Adjuncts may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year and are responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives.
Essential Job Functions- Teach Developmental English courses at a variety of times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, or using electronic communication.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with an emphasis on collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse groups.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.

The work is primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment; standard discipline equipment as applicable.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
- Work performed in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal safety hazards.
- Hours vary with class schedule; instructors must be available outside of class instruction.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, literature, creative writing, or a related field, or Master’s degree in the same, or relevant teaching/training experience.
$55.44 per contact hour.
