The Bilingual Elementary Teacher is responsible for implementing the District’s instructional program and educational philosophy in the assigned subject area or grade level, in accordance with District goals, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Teach in accordance with staff assignment and display effective teaching practices.
- Develop lesson plans with immediate and long‑range goals, selecting appropriate materials and activities.
- Present subject matter clearly and engagingly.
- Coordinate and plan with team members and librarians to enhance student learning.
- Create an environment conducive to learning and manage classroom behavior positively.
- Supervise student behavior and safety during class, between classes, and in school‑related activities on and off campus.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, parents, and other staff to place students in the most effective educational setting.
- Instruct students in school safety and emergency drill procedures.
- Participate in special activities and programs for students and parents.
- Initiate and maintain communication with parents regarding programs, issues, and student progress.
- Maintain accurate records for student evaluation, attendance, textbooks, materials, funds, and disciplinary measures.
- Adhere to record‑keeping formats and timelines.
- Exemplify professionalism in behavior, performance, and collaboration with staff and administrators.
- Remain current in education and instructional areas through literature, workshops, conferences, professional organizations, and coursework.
- Follow the Texas Education Code of Ethics and support the District’s philosophy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.
Qualifications- Required:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; valid Texas teaching certificate in assigned grade levels. - Preferred:
One year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
- Knowledge of subjects assigned.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
