DescriptionThe Department of Construction Management at the University of Houston invites applications for a part‑time Lecturer to teach CNST 4397 – Advanced Work Package Scheduling during the Summer 2025 term. This senior‑level elective offers students an advanced and applied understanding of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), a cutting‑edge methodology designed to improve project efficiency, predictability, and safety in industrial and commercial construction.
The successful candidate will engage undergraduate students through dynamic instruction, group‑based learning, and interactive planning activities, fostering both theoretical knowledge and hands‑on experience. This course plays a key role in preparing future construction professionals to implement AWP principles on real‑world projects.
- Deliver lectures and lead interactive sessions
- Develop course materials and assignments
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
- Engage with students to mentor and support their professional growth
- Collaborate with program leadership to ensure course alignment with industry standards
- An MS degree in construction management, civil engineering, industrial engineering, or a closely related discipline
- A minimum of five (5) years of industry experience, specifically in AWP, project planning, or related construction processes
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Prior teaching or training experience in a higher education or industry setting (preferred)
- Professional certifications such as AWP Certification, PMI‑SP, or equivalent
- Proficiency with industry‑standard scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Smart Plant)
- Experience with collaborative or experiential teaching methods
