Directs and coordinates the academic advising activities of a college or major educational office.
Core ResponsibilitiesThis position works in the Office of Graduate and Professional Programs at the
C. T. Bauer College of Business. It engages with students to advise them on academic requirements for degree progress, course selection, policies, procedures, and resources based on an assessment of individual student needs.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Candidates must also communicate effectively with all levels of management and fellow employees and manage multiple employer relationships.
Position Responsibilities (Not Limited To)- Planning and executing events
- Participating in presentations to classes
- Conducting presentations to student organizations
- Advising UH students considering declaring a program
- Participating in presentations to classes
- Conducting presentations to student organizations
Opportunities to attend conferences and trainings, whether virtual, within the state of Texas, or in another state.
Work HoursThe hours for this position are Monday‑Friday 8 am – 5 pm or 9 am – 6 pm.
Preferences- Experience in higher education
- Direct experience in academic advising
MQ:
Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job‑related master’s degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job‑related experience.
