Assistant Professor Of Unmanned Aerial Systems
The College of Science Engineering and Technology at Texas Southern University is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Unmanned Aerial Systems, who is competent in instructing students with an active research agenda. The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) with an emphasis in Aviation, Drone Technology or Aeronautical Engineering from a regionally accredited university, with a supplemental field in Aviation Management or Drone Technology.
This is a 9-month tenure track position with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
Essential duties include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Unmanned Aerial Systems, conducting research that is presentable at professional academic conferences and acceptable for publication in referred academic journals, active participation in departmental, school and university committees, service to one's profession and the surrounding community, advising and mentoring students, and other job-related duties as assigned.
The hiring range is $69,808.00 - $90,750.00. Education required is a Ph.D. in Aviation, Drone Technology or Aeronautical Engineering from a regionally accredited university at time of hire. Supplemental field in Unmanned Aerial Systems/UAV or Aeronautical Engineering. Required licensing/certification is an FAA Part 107 License.
Knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices, proficiency in FAA Part 107 operations, current software and applications in GIS and Data Processing, skill in detail oriented, effective customer service, problem-solving and decision-making, multitasking and time management, both verbal and written communication, ability to work with a diverse student population, and maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations are required.
Active research agenda as evidenced by at least one referred journal publication at time of hire preferred. Prolonged standing and/or walking, handling medium weight objects, using or carrying equipment are working/environmental conditions.
