Multilingual Specialist Pool - All Levels @ Instruction Department

Pool is forming to accept eligible applicants for entrance into the Multilingual Programs Leadership Pool. The pool includes applicants who are interested in becoming an ESL Specialist elementary/intermediate), ELD Interventionist (elementary/intermediate), and ESL Department Chair (middle and high school). Only applicants accepted into the pool can apply for vacant ELL leadership positions.

Bachelor's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university

Valid educator certification and highly qualified status for the position advertised (grade appropriate)

Valid ESL or bilingual certification (grade appropriate)

Minimum of three years classroom teaching experience as a teacher of ELLs

English proficiency (oral and literacy skills);
Bilingual preferred but not required

Multiple grade level experience required (Elementary)

STAAR Grades teaching experience required

Trained in ELPS, TELPAS and Sheltered All applicants must be SIOP trained.

T-Tess:
Proficient or above

Knowledge & understanding of Language Development and Best Practices for instructing ELLs

Instructional leadership skills and experience

Knowledge & understanding of the district's Bilingual Education Program (elementary and intermediate)

Knowledge & understanding of the district's Dual Language Program (elementary, intermediate and middle school)

Knowledge & understanding of the district's ESL program

Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, Slide decks, Cambium, School city & Schoology

Experience teaching reading and completion of Reading

Probationary contract – 187 days plus 4 days of Alief U professional development for a teacher new to the district

Salary Schedule

Minimum teacher salary is $66,500 (base $64,100 + $2,400 Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) Stipend)

Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
