Nursing Tutor III (Part-Time)
Summary:
Responsible for directly tutoring nursing students by asking and answering questions and demonstrating examples relating to the subject.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following. Other Duties May Be Assigned:
- Tutor all nursing students in nursing and applicable health science topics, including college-level academic transfer courses.
- Ask and answer nursing and health science subject related questions, using examples relating to the particular subject.
- Provide analytic and diagnostic services for students increasing effective work results.
- Process new students to ensure the individuals' learning needs are met.
- Provide support services required during semester.
- Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials.
- May assist in tracking student performance via session logs.
- May present at various events to increase awareness of tutoring services.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
- Education:
Same credential as required to teach in the subject area. - Experience:
3 years of current professional clinical work experience in the nursing field required. - Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be well organized, task-oriented and flexible. Must possess good interpersonal skills to perform successfully in a large multicultural environment. Must be able to teach day or evening hour classes at a number of sites around the city, primarily in the Medical Center. Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment Self-disciplined and able to effectively follow department protocols. Must be able to work flexible hours based on support needs.
