Job DescriptionProvide all students with academic and attendance interventions as needed. Provide opportunities for the teacher/supervisor to address the individual needs of students and programs.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification

Experience:
- None
Program Support
- Provide emotional, social, and behavior support to all students as needed.
- Distribute and collect materials for instruction.
- Assist in the modification of instructional materials.
- Administer, score and record achievement and diagnostic tests, objective‑type teacher‑made tests and quizzes, and grades as the teacher recommends for students.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially taught by the teacher.
- Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Help students master equipment and/or instructional materials assigned by teachers.
- Assist students in the library or media center.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers.
- Participate in in‑service training programs as assigned.
Clerical Support
- Check and record student academic and attendance progress.
- Collect and record data related to students’ IEP objectives and educational plans.
- Reproduce instructional materials.
- Type forms and instructional materials.
- Catalogue and file instructional materials; maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, and prepare orders/requisitions for needed materials.
- Keep bulletin boards and other classroom displays up‑to‑date.
- Operate equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Assist with the supervision of students during lunch periods, assemblies, play periods, and movement of group to special classes.
Other
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.
Mental/Physical DemandsStandard office equipment, standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; moderate lifting up to 15 pounds, with occasional heavy lifting up to 45 pounds; may require climbing stairs and reaching over head; may work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district‑wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors;
work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Pay Grade: ISP1
Salary: $22,540 to $30,127 per year.
