Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education

Description:

The University of Houston Law Center is looking for either a Program Manager level 1 or level 2 for the Pre‑Law Pipeline Programs.

Program Manager Level 1 (PM1)

Manages the day‑to‑day operations of a small or medium‑sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.

  • Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium‑sized department or program.
  • Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  • May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
  • Reviews reports of budgets and activities.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
  • May administer grants and grant‑related communications, scholarships and other operations.
  • Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  • May serve as property custodian for the department.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

MQ: Education:
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job‑related 4‑year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in‑depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Program Manager Level 2 (PM2)

Manages the day‑to‑day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.

  • Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
  • Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  • Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
  • Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
  • May administer grants and grant‑related communications, scholarships and other operations.
  • Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  • May serve as property custodian for the department.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

The University of Houston Law Center Pre‑Law Pipeline Programs are preparatory initiatives designed to equip first‑generation undergraduate students, aspiring first‑generation law students, and individuals from low‑income backgrounds with essential information, tools, and training to develop a successful law school application. Our programs include LSAT instruction, introductory law school classes, placements in law‑related internships, and professional development training, all designed for students eager to fulfill their dreams of attending law school and pursuing a successful legal career.

UHLC Pre‑Law Pipeline Programs are administered in accordance with applicable law and university nondiscrimination policies and are open to all qualified participants.

  • Familiar with creating and working with budgets and willing to learn the intricacies of the University of Houston Law Center's budgeting system.
