Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis to provide learning activities and support that lead to achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. The primary responsibility is to plan, develop, and teach Physics courses to facilitate student learning.
Essential Job Functions- Teach Physics courses at a variety of times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course following institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them of their progress in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills; collaborative, teamwork-oriented style.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a broad variety of people.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service‑learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies such as collaborative learning, learning communities, and distance learning.

The work is sedentary. The employee sits comfortably most of the time but may walk, stand, bend, carry light items (e.g., papers, books), or drive an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and standard office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
- Work performed in a climate‑controlled classroom/lab with minimal safety hazards.
- Hours vary with class time; instructors must be available to students outside class instruction.
- Master’s degree in physics or a closely related physical science, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in physics or a related field.
