Salary Range: $45,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
The role of the Posse trainer is to help recruit, train, and support Posse Scholars. During recruitment, trainers assist with outreach to high schools and community-based organizations, interview candidates, and guide them through the college application process. Once selected, trainers work closely with scholars from their senior year of high school through graduation. In Pre‑Collegiate Training, trainers facilitate weekly workshops focusing on leadership, cross‑cultural communication, team‑building, and academic excellence.
Trainers also travel to partner universities four times a year to meet scholars individually, track academic progress, and develop retention strategies. They work with Posse mentors (usually college faculty/staff) to ensure scholars receive the support they need. Trainers report to the program director and collaborate with co‑trainers.
- Recruit, train, and support Posse Scholars.

- Collaborate with Posse mentors to provide campus support.
- Report to the program director and work with co‑trainers.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience working with youth; facilitation experience; counseling experience; two years previous work experience desired.
- Experience working one‑on‑one with high school and college‑aged students.
- Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to relate to participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Enthusiastic, strong work ethic, able to work independently and as part of a team, serve as positive role model.
- Knowledge of Houston area public high schools a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the year (current driver’s license strongly preferred).
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, internet research, email, etc.).
- Demonstrated belief in Posse’s mission and values.
