Job Summary
The Department of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Toxicology at Texas Southern University invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Chemical Engineering. The appointment is academic, 9‑month, beginning September 1, 2026. The department provides competitive package, laboratory space, and state‑of‑the‑art research facilities. Candidates will conduct research and teaching in chemical engineering, with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines.
Essential Duties- Teach core and specialized undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical engineering.
- Establish and advance an independent research program.
- Attract extramural research funds.
- Engage in laboratory research and scholarly activities.
- Publish high‑impact, peer‑reviewed journal articles and present findings at major scientific conferences.
- Provide academic advising, career mentorship, and research supervision to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop new courses and update existing curricula to reflect emerging technologies and industry needs.
- Participate in professional activities including internal and external conferences and seminars.
- Provide oversight of laboratory facilities, supplies, and materials.
- Provide service to college, university, and the community.
- Perform other job duties as required or assigned.
A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related field. Substantial post‑doctoral training is preferred. Demonstrated potential for advanced nanomaterials research, chemical engineering practice, spectroscopy and analytical chemistry, STEM education, and translational entrepreneurship. Robust grantsmanship and publication record. Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research and to involve undergraduate and graduate students in research activities.
Preferred QualificationsRelated teaching, scholarly, and research experience. Strong grantsmanship and publication record.
