SUMMARY
Identify employment opportunities, and place graduates in jobs. Coordinate and conduct skills training to assist participants in making the transition from welfare to the workforce.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Interview students/graduates and assess their job placement needs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with employers to identify employment opportunities for students.
- Determine employer needs, and facilitate the design and implementation of customized occupational skills training to meet those needs.
- Participate in regional and national organizations to keep abreast of current employment trends.
- Develop and conduct job readiness seminars and life skills training to assist program participants in making the transition from welfare to the workforce.
- Coordinate, schedule, and host job fairs and employer recruiting days.
- Monitor and evaluate initial performance of participants at worksites, and interview and counsel individual participants when necessary.
- Counsel individual students/ graduates in employment strategies.
- Conduct workshops for students such as resume writing, interviewing and job searching.
- Represent HCCS at high school college nights.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree. Eight (8) years directly related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
EXPERIENCE Three (3) years relevant program experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Possess ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with members of the business community in order to identify employment opportunities Possess skills and abilities to design and implement job placement-training programs Excellent organizational and communication skills required Facilitation and training skills Knowledge of current workforce issues and trends Ability to interact effectively with diverse population
