Step into a vital role supporting a 9th-grade students educational journey by utilizing your expertise in American Sign Language within a dynamic learning environment. This part-time contract opportunity is perfect for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter passionate about making a meaningful impact in schools. Youll collaborate closely with another Language Facilitator, ensuring consistent language access every Fridayand stepping in as a substitute if needed.

Qualifications &

Experience:
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and experienced in educational interpreting
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state or nationally recognized)
  • Prior work in school settings, especially with students with cochlear implants, hearing aids, or ALD devices
  • Comfortable supporting students in behavioral classrooms
  • Strong skills in facilitating communication between students, educators, and peers
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Adaptable and responsive to student needs in a changing educational environment
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide ASL interpretation for a student during instructional periods (not required during lunch, arrival, or dismissal)
  • Collaborate with another language facilitator to ensure seamless student support throughout the week
  • Adjust interpreting strategies as needed, considering recent transitions from residential programs
  • Promote positive social, academic, and classroom participation for students with hearing challenges
  • Maintain thorough records and communicate effectively with staff and supervisors
