Position: Behavior Support Assistant - YES Prep West Secondary (26-27)

Job Description

Behavior Support Assistant – Reports to Dean of Students and/or Director of Student Support. 10‑month employment. Hourly pay $13.77 – $17.12 per hour.

The Role
  • Executing lower-level behavior interventions with students of concern, including check-ins and check-outs, student reflections and de‑escalation.
  • Helping progress monitor student behavior trackers.
  • Conducting in‑class push‑ins/pull‑outs to help with de‑escalation and coping skills.
  • Monitoring students in detention and in‑school suspension.
  • Performing discipline data entry.
  • Assisting teachers with the supervision of students in all instructional settings.
  • Assisting teachers with behavior management techniques by demonstrating, modeling, and positively reinforcing desired behaviors.
  • Monitoring students during transition times throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom, including hallways, cafeteria, gym, and other areas where students are present.
  • Monitoring in‑school suspension.
  • Holding students accountable to campus behavioral expectations and administering appropriate consequences.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Must Haves
  • 0–2 years of experience working with students and student behavior.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools.
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback.
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast‑paced and results‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team.
  • A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional.
Nice to Haves
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year educational institution, in a social science field.
Benefits
  • Compensation – Non‑exempt hourly position, salary commensurate with experience.
  • Health and Supplemental Insurance – $0 monthly medical option, $600 toward Health Savings Account, and additional dental, vision, disability, life, etc. Full benefits for employees working 20+ hours/week; medical benefits for 10 hours/week minimum.
  • Retirement Plans – Participation in Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a 457 Retirement Plan.
  • Paid Time Off – Employees working 20+ hours a week receive 10 days of PTO in addition to system closures during the Academic Calendar.

Note:

Part‑time hourly employees (working fewer than 40 hours per week) do not receive pay during system closures. 10‑ and 11‑month hourly employees do not receive pay during the months in which they are not working.
