Position SummaryDevelops and implements programming to educate students about career development, job search activities, and internships across multiple career clusters including Education, Health Science (Pre‑Health), Human Services, Government, Pre‑Law, and Public Administration.
Responsibilities- Advanced principles, techniques, and theory in a professional discipline, typically achieved through a directly job‑related Master’s degree or equivalent formal training.
- Minimum of one (1) year of directly job‑related experience.
- Thorough understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of student development or knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
- Experience with career coaching, advising, human services, training and development, and project management.
Coach undergraduate, graduate students, and recent alumni in the Career Clusters of Education, Health Science (Pre‑Health), Human Services, Government, Pre‑Law, and Public Administration. Facilitate workshops on career exploration, interviewing, networking, job/internship search techniques, and graduate/professional school preparation. Analyze and interpret career assessment results and incorporate them into coaching sessions.
AdditionalSpecific Duties and Responsibilities
- Career Coaching and Facilitation – Coach students and facilitate engaging workshops on career exploration, interview preparation, networking, and job/internship search techniques. Analyze and interpret career assessment results for counseling.
- Marketing and Outreach Project Management – Promote UCS services (Cougar Pathway, Focus 2, Career Assessments, VMock Smart Resume, Career Shift) and manage marketing/outreach for career fairs and prep weeks.
- Project Management – Manage projects and events for the specified career clusters from inception to implementation.
- Campus Collaboration and Partnerships – Collaborate with faculty, staff, academic advisors, and external partners to provide students with resources.
- Employee Career Development and Training – Provide ongoing training to the Peer Career Advising team.
- Professional Development – Stay abreast of labor market trends and pursue continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Assessment and Evaluation – Manage and evaluate career coaching services and programs; prepare status reports and recommend improvements.
- Excellent collaboration and relationship‑building skills with diverse populations and employers.
- Effective communication across organizational levels.
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills: detail‑oriented, self‑starter, creative, and eager to learn.
- Working knowledge of career management technology platforms such as Symplicity, Handshake, or other CRMs; and marketing tools like Canva.
- Experience in marketing, communications, and outreach to diverse student populations.
- Proficiency with MS Office, SharePoint, and MS Teams.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle fast‑paced environments and problem‑solving.
- Strong project management and program coordination abilities.
- Availability for evening presentations and events.
- Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
