Job DescriptionDirect and manage overall campus operations. Responsible for leadership of the campus instructional program ensuring high standards of instruction and student achievement, compliance with district policies, application of instructional programs, and effective operation of all campus activities to meet the needs of all stakeholders.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in educational administration
- Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
- Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD)
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data and manage budget and personnel
- Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Three (3) years of teaching experience, five (5) years preferred
- Three (3) years of educational campus administrative leadership experience, five (5) years preferred
- Monitor instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions where necessary.
- Provide instructional resources, materials, and a master schedule needed to accomplish instructional goals to meet student needs.
- Establish clear expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
- Solicit regular input from campus-level committees about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of campus education program. Include students and community representatives when appropriate.
- Monitor development and implementation of lesson plans.
- Build a common vision for school improvement with staff. Direct planning activities and implement programs to ensure attainment of school’s mission.
- Assume administrative responsibility and instructional leadership within district and state guidelines for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the educational program of the school.
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal. Approve all personnel assigned to campus.
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences according to the designated appraisal system.
- Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals.
- Work with campus-level planning and decision-making committees to plan professional development activities for staff that are appropriate for their students’ instructional and behavioral needs.
- Develop leadership abilities/capabilities/skills of assigned campus administrators.
- Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional goal and strategies, and classroom management methods according to district expectations.
- Establish campus performance objectives for Academic Excellence Indicators using the campus planning process and involving site-based decision making committee. Demonstrate campus progress using results to promote school improvement.
- Provide opportunities for interactive communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
- Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
- Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations affecting schools and school correspondence.
- Participate in professional development activities to increase knowledge and improve job-related skills.
- Support and communicate the vision of Alief ISD.
- Abide by the Alief ISD Code of Civility.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
- Oversee all programs housed on the campus.
- Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
