Days per Year: 197 DAYS

Salary: Minimum $66,105, Mid $79,645

Job Title: Student Support Specialist-SCE

Reports To: Elementary Campus Principal

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: AI2, Eligible for Teacher Incentive Allotment Compensation

Primary

Purpose:

The Student Support Specialist reports to the Campus Principal and will serve to increase academic achievement and reduce drop‑out rates of “at‑risk” students. They provide comprehensive, coordinated, integrated, and customized supports that are accessible, timely, and strength‑based so students can achieve in school.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Standard Texas teaching certificate

Preferred:

  • Three years of successful teaching experience
Special Knowledge / Skills
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal accountability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state assessments
  • Knowledge of the district curriculum
  • Knowledge of the district intervention programs
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Quality oral presentations and written reports
  • Detail oriented, meeting required deadlines
Major Responsibilities and Duties Instruction
  • Provide direct instruction for at‑risk students.
  • Provide academic intervention, support, and monitoring of at‑risk students.
  • Plan and implement effective instruction.
  • Analyze student data to identify trends and areas of improvement.
  • Lead and participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to contribute to school‑wide instructional improvement.
  • Monitor the academic progress of identified students engaged in interventions with the Instructional Specialist.
Student Support and Compliance
  • Monitor PEIMS coding to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Lead and monitor students within the RTI process for academic and behavioral success.
  • Oversee student progress monitoring records for effectiveness and communicate with stakeholders for needed supports.
  • Conduct analysis of student performance data to guide the RTI team and assist teachers.
  • Attend and provide district-level professional development to stay abreast of best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Leadership team on teaching and learning practices.
Working Conditions

Physical demands include mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, lifting, carrying, and traveling within the district and statewide. Mental demands include problem solving, data interpretation, applying current research and theory, effective oral and written communication, and maintaining emotional control under stress.
