Reports To: Center Manager
Location: Houston, TX
Salary: $19.60 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
OverviewThe Infant and Toddler Teacher promotes and supports the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and linguistic development of infants and toddlers. They create nurturing, responsive learning environments that support development, provide age-appropriate classroom management, and build strong relationships with families to promote healthy development, school readiness, and well-being.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credentialed in Infant and Toddler (or Associate Degree) in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
- Minimum one (1) year of paid experience in a childcare or preschool setting.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License; personal vehicle and liability insurance may be required. In states with public transportation, a valid state required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of paid experience in childcare or preschool.
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and local state licensing requirements.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- Teach and promote a learning environment for infants and toddlers in alignment with the approved curriculum and Performance Standards.
- Establish and maintain a healthy and safe indoor and outdoor environment.
- Conduct daily playground health and safety monitoring; assist with set-up and clean-up of playgrounds.
- Detect and report signs of illness, discomfort, or unusual behavior to Managers or the Family Advocate/ Social Worker.
- Follow policies to comply with health and safety incidents and mandated reporting of suspected child abuse/neglect per applicable state laws.
- Keep classrooms, storage, and office spaces neat and clutter-free.
- Follow all health and safety policies established by the program.
- Report safety hazards and maintain direct supervision of children.
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere that respects diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
- Participate in dual supervision and coaching with Educational Coaches/Managers.
- Practice Standards of Conduct and guidance techniques as defined in the Discipline Policy.
- Follow Time and Attendance policies.
- Cell phone use in the classroom is prohibited per licensing standards and program policy; other areas may have different policies.
- Implement the curriculum to meet fidelity and ensure a nurturing environment that supports social and emotional development.
- Maintain data management requirements (e.g., Child Plus, Teaching Strategies Gold).
- Promote and reinforce parental engagement through modeling appropriate behavior and positive guidance techniques.
- Assist with food service and other classroom needs as requested.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
- Assist with facility maintenance, security, and inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Assist with classroom laundry, cleaning, sanitization, and organization.
- Support other classroom assignments and special duties as needed.
- Complete other related activities as assigned.
Ability to see, hear, and use hands to perform required tasks. Ability to lift infants and toddlers up to 40 pounds; occasional lifts up to 50 pounds; ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
