Position:
Special Education Teaching Assistant.

Reports to:

Special Education Manager. Position Type: 10‑month.

Start Date:

26‑27 School Year. Compensation: $15.63 – $19.43 per hour.

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with student supervision in all instructional settings.
• Demonstrate, model, and positively reinforce desired behaviors to support behavior management.
• Maintain data related to students’ IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Help tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support teachers by practicing and reinforcing learning concepts.
• Assist students with self‑help and academic skills.
• Provide one‑to‑one support for a student with significant cognitive, behavioral, or medical needs.
• Administer and score tests and work assignments.
• Implement accommodations and/or modifications for the class.
• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to reinforce objectives.
• Monitor students during transition times throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
• Provide personal care services for students as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 30 semester hours college or post‑secondary education credit.
• Current Educational Aide certification, or willingness to acquire certification from the TEA.
• Interest in working one‑to‑one with a student who has significant needs, including medical needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self‑help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.

• Hourly wages of $15.63–$19.43, commensurate with experience.
