Job DescriptionPosition: High School ELA Teacher

ObjectiveAn English Language Arts (ELA) teacher instructs students in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, focusing on literature, composition, and critical analysis. Key responsibilities include creating lesson plans, implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive learning environment to improve literacy skills across various proficiency levels. Teachers are required to attend after-school meetings, training, and tutorials as needed.
EssentialFunctions
- Curriculum Planning & Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lesson plans for reading, writing, and literature.
- Skill Development: Teach grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and composition, tailoring methods to diverse learning styles.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Grade assignments, administer tests, and monitor student progress to adjust instruction.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
- Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with colleagues, communicate with parents regarding student performance, and participate in staff meetings.
- Material Development: Utilize various literary resources and technology to enhance student learning.
- To be punctual and be available during official working hours.
- To comply with AAMA policies, standards, rules, regulations, and procedures.
- To take precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- To participate responsibly in the school’s improvement initiatives.
- To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities.
- To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff.
- To provide and accept evaluative feedback professionally.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about school personnel.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Salary: $57,000 Per Year
