Provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enables students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
- Knowledge of assigned subjects.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing demands.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment appropriate to students’ learning needs.
- Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curriculum for students with IEPs.
- Coordinate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Plan and supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the Campus Director.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the district mission.
- Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development, consistent with the teaching philosophy and district goals.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Encourage students to meet acceptable classroom behavior standards defined in the Student Code of Conduct.
- Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, principal, and teachers through conferences and meetings.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keep informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication regarding student academic, attendance, and behavioral progress.
- Check and respond to e‑mail and voicemail daily.
- Be available to students and parents for educational matters outside the instructional day when necessary and under reasonable terms.
- Abide by the school’s grading policy.
- Maintain student attendance and performance records.
- Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date grade book able to produce grade information upon request.
- Uphold and enforce all school policies and state regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality; do not discuss children or their families outside the school.
- Attend and participate in committee, team, departmental, faculty, and district meetings as required.
- Adapt to changing demands by planning, preparing, and adjusting instruction for distance learning.
