Primary

Purpose:

Responsible for improving the literacy content knowledge and instructional effectiveness of teachers serving students in the elementary ELAR classroom.

Qualifications / Skills
  • Education / Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree in related field.
    • Valid Texas teacher certification or teaching certificate from out of state appropriate to position.
    • Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law.
  • Special Knowledge /

    Skills:

    • Strong pedagogy knowledge required in the areas of reading, writing, and phonics.
    • Exceptional communication skills required, including the ability to conduct parent conferences/training; present on content-specific topics, and interact with students effectively.
    • Knowledge and experience in curriculum and instructional strategy implementation required.
    • Knowledge and experience with rigorous curriculum and instructional strategy required. Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and research-based best practices including (but not limited to) project-based learning, differentiated instruction, lesson planning and student assessment required.
    • Well versed in student assessment analysis, including but not limited to TXKEA, MAP, STAAR, district phonological awareness and phonics assessments.
    • Willingness to participate in professional development for coaching duties, such as those that will teach strategies and best practices for mentoring, facilitating and training required. Evidence of skills in planning, organization and collaboration required.
    • Knowledge and experience in coaching and training preferred.
    • Proficient in the effective use of technology to enhance learning.
    • Knowledge of effective professional development practices preferred.
    • Knowledge of English Language Learners (ELL) strategies preferred. Passion for increasing student learning preferred. Knowledge of adult learning methodology preferred. Knowledge of RtI Strategies preferred.
    • Knowledge and experience in facilitating effective Professional Learning Community collaborative meetings preferred.
    • Ability to instruct students, manage behavior, and track progress effectively.
    • Prior evidence of high-progress student outcomes in the relevant subjects or, at the entry level, evidence of superior prior academic achievements, and organizing and influence skills indicating very high potential to perform at this level.
  • Experience:
    • Evidence of at least three (3) years of recent successful classroom teaching experience required.
    • Experience in multiple grade levels preferred.
    • Experience using student and campus level data to select, implement and differentiate instructional methods, designed to meet each student's individual needs preferred.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Planning & Preparation
  • Model methods and create instructional tools and materials that can be used in all classrooms.
  • Conduct needs analysis to identify teaching and learning needs at each campus and organize and implement problem-solving strategies with teachers and administrators.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of lesson planning and common assessment.
