Qualifications
  • Education/Certification:

    Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
  • Must have demonstrated competency in core academic subject area assigned.
  • Gifted Courses:
    Must complete 30 hours of gifted approved hours required (if applicable).

    Skills:

    Knowledge of subject matter, curriculum and instruction, ability to instruct students and manage their behavior, strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve a diverse population of students, including those participating in state/federal programs.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Comply with the Alief ISD Code of Civility.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators per building and district guidelines.
  • Participate in meetings and provide appropriate documentation for admissions, reviews, progress, grades, dismissals, conferences, etc.
  • Comply with state and federal laws, district policies, rules, regulations, and administrative directives.
Instructional Strategies
  • Plan and teach a program of study aligned with TEA, district mandates and curricula.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans meeting TEA and curriculum requirements, demonstrate preparation evidence.
  • Use instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology to meet student learning styles and needs.
  • Implement instructional modifications and accommodations per ARD, LPAC, Section 504, and RtI committees for students receiving services.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and interventionists to modify curricula for struggling students.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
  • Diagnose learning needs and seek leadership support for intervention methods.
Student Growth and Development
  • Assess ongoing accomplishments and needs, maintain records, provide feedback and progress reports.
  • Administer state assessments as appropriate; use small group instruction.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create an inviting, risk‑free, supportive, warm learning environment.
  • Implement an effective discipline management system aligned with school policies.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, instructional materials.
  • Compile, maintain, file reports and documents required.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve job‑related skills.
