Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

• Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned; current ESL certification required within two years of employment; demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned; gifted teachers must have 30 hours of approved gifted training.

• Maintain an acceptable attendance rate of 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
• Plan and participate in all meetings and provide documentation for admissions, reviews, progress, grades, dismissals, conferences, etc.
• Comply with state and federal laws, district policies, rules, regulations, and administrative directives.

• Plan and teach a program of study in accordance with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), district mandates, and curricula.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill TEA and district curriculum requirements, using instructional strategies and materials that address diverse learning styles.
• Implement modifications and accommodations per ARD, LPAC, Section 504, and RTI committees for students receiving services.
• Collaborate with special education teachers and interventionists to modify curricula for struggling general education and special education students as outlined in IEPs.
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Diagnose learning needs of all students and seek assistance from building and district leadership for appropriate intervention methods.

• Assess students’ ongoing accomplishments and needs, maintain appropriate records, and provide immediate feedback and progress reports per district guidelines. Administer state assessments as appropriate. Use small‑group instruction.
• Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Serve as a positive role model and support the mission of the school district.

• Create an inviting, risk‑free, supportive, and warm learning environment appropriate to students’ developmental level and interests.
• Implement an effective discipline system aligned with building and district policies.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
• Take all reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and required documents.

• Participate in professional development activities to improve job‑related skills.
• Comply with state, district, and federal laws and regulations for classroom teachers.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Maintain technological competence to meet current and future district needs.
• Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
