Purpose:

Responsible for implementing instruction in the assigned subject area(s) in a manner that fosters attainment of each student's maximum potential.

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position.
• Content exam and Science of Teaching Reading exam requirements met, if applicable.
• Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law.
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in the effective use of technology.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.

• Adhere to the district's philosophy of instruction and develop lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements.
• Plan lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles and present subject matter per Texas Education Agency and board policies.
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities, collaborating with special education teacher to modify curricula per IEP.
• Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods. Supervise teacher aides and volunteers. Use technology to enhance teaching/learning.
• Help students analyze and improve study methods; conduct ongoing assessment of achievement.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved activities.
• Be a positive role model and support school mission.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and manage behavior per Student Code of Conduct.
• Protect students and materials; assist in selecting instructional resources.
• Maintain open communication: conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers; maintain professional relationships.
• Use effective communication to present information accurately and clearly.
• Participate in staff development and stay informed of regulations and policies; compile, maintain filings.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions; requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
• Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; moving small stacks of materials.
