Position: Interventionist Teacher - IDEA Spears College Prep (26-27)

Role Mission

The IDEA Interventionist Teacher intervenes with small groups of students who have identified gaps of 2 or more years in Reading and/or Math with the goal of closing that gap by 2 years in just one school year. The interventionist plays a crucial part in ensuring that all students are prepared to participate in IDEA’s AP for All initiative. This approach provides systematic and intensive assistance to students at risk of underperforming, using universal screening, Direct Instruction, frequent progress monitoring, and increasingly intensive research-based instruction and interventions.

  • Compensation:
    The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $64,000. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications and campus leadership ranging from $500-$4,000 each.   • Service Record Requirement:
    To verify creditable service, candidates selected for this position must submit official electronic service records from previous educational employers. Service records will be used to validate professional experience and determine creditable years of service and compensation, as applicable.
  • Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required)
  • Experience:

    Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred)
  • Licenses or

    Certifications:

    State certification preferred but not required
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
Responsibilities
  • Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction using model programming for small groups of students in 3rd-8th grade who are academically at risk in reading and/or math, including students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of students in Kinder-2nd grade (dependent on campus assignment) who are academically at risk in reading and/or math, including students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of students in 9th-12th grade (dependent on campus assignment) who are academically at risk to graduate, including students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Work closely with general education teachers to coordinate the support they are providing to students requiring intervention.
  • Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
  • Learn, master and deliver relevant content and grade level curriculum, core content objectives and texts.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
  • Implement formal and informal assessments to track each student’s progress and learning; adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly.
