The Instructional Specialist provides direct instruction and instructional support to students with identified deficits in reading or mathematics and offers content‑specific coaching to teachers as part of the continuous cycle of campus feedback and support.
Qualifications- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Standard Texas teaching certificate
- Preferred:
- Three years of successful teaching experience
- Excellent motivational skills with teachers and students
- Experience coaching and modeling for teachers
- Knowledge of core curriculum and instruction
- Knowledge of district intervention programs
- Ability to evaluate student progress
- Ability to model and provide instructional implementation assistance
- Flexibility and patience with teachers and students
- Provide direct instruction for at‑risk students.
- Provide academic intervention, support, and monitoring of at‑risk students.
- Plan and implement effective instruction.
- Analyze student data to identify trends and areas of improvement.
- Lead and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to contribute to school‑wide instructional improvement efforts.
- Monitor the academic progress of identified students engaged in academic interventions.
- Model, coach, and collaborate with teachers using effective instructional strategies.
- Attend and provide district‑level professional development to stay abreast of best practices.
- Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Maintain ongoing communication with classroom teachers and administrators regarding student progress.
- Participate and collaborate with the Instructional Leadership team on teaching and learning practices.
Physical demands: mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. Mental demands: problem solving, interpreting data, applying educational research, effective oral and written communication, and maintaining emotional control under stress.
