Responsible for the academic growth of students in the elementary schools.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or an appropriate out‑of‑state teaching certificate. ESL Certification required during the first year if not already obtained.
• Content exam and Science of Teaching Reading exam requirements met, if applicable.
• Certification must meet all federal and state requirements for qualification and continued eligibility.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in effective use of technology.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.

• Adhere to the district’s philosophy of instruction. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district curriculum program and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines of the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use the results to plan instructional activities.
• Collaborate with the special education teacher to modify curricula for special education students per Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Work with other staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

• Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
• Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

• Maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

• Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and required documents.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
