Position: Academic Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

Position Overview

On‑site in Houston, TX—campuses in Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands (relocation assistance available). $100,000 annual compensation, distributed weekly. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one.

The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their objective is to decline calling it complete. If that expectation unsettles you, this position will not be a fit. If it energizes you because you understand that maintaining high standards demonstrates your belief in a student’s capacity to exceed them, continue reading.

Alpha operates outside the traditional school model. Students complete a full academic day’s work in approximately two hours using adaptive technology. No classroom lectures. No physical textbooks. Your responsibility centers on what technology cannot accomplish: guiding Pre‑K through 8th grade students in essential competencies including public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. You will spend half your time facilitating experiential workshops following structured curriculum frameworks and narrative teaching methods.

The remaining time is devoted to individual and small‑group sessions where you examine student advancement in adaptive platforms via Coachbot analytics and ensure they achieve 100% of weekly objectives. Mastery is validated through Test2

Pass evaluations, not attendance or effort metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitating structured one‑hour life competency workshops for Pre‑K through 8th grade students covering public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and feedback skills (experiential and project‑driven)
  • Conducting daily individual and small‑group coaching sessions reviewing each student’s advancement in adaptive learning platforms (via Coachbot analytics), establishing objectives, and driving them toward 100% weekly target achievement
  • Overseeing and assessing Test2

Pass evaluations to verify authentic life skill mastery rather than simple participation
  • Adjusting your approach across diverse developmental stages, from Pre‑K learners requiring energetic and kinesthetic engagement to 8th graders needing candid dialogue and accountability
  • Cultivating authentic connections with each student to establish the trust necessary for them to receive guidance through challenges, distractions, and insecurity
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Providing lectures or conventional academic instruction (core subject learning occurs through adaptive applications, not instructor‑led teaching)
  • Creating lesson plans or original curriculum (Alpha supplies life skills frameworks; your role is to execute them with enthusiasm and narrative skill)
  • Handling parent communications or administrative operations (Campus Leads manage these functions; you remain concentrated on student development)
  • Evaluating assignments or coordinating standardized exam preparation (these elements are not part of Alpha’s model)
  • Operating independently (you function within a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • 3+ years of direct experience working with Pre‑K through 8th grade students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management roles)
  • Demonstrated history of motivating or coaching Pre‑K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your specific actions, and the result achieved)
  • Regular daily use of generative AI platforms (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Ability to work on‑site at Alpha’s Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands campus location (relocation assistance provided)
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice‑to‑have Requirements
  • Background in youth sports coaching, camp direction, or after‑school programming where you held direct responsibility for motivating children to achieve defined objectives
  • History of significant personal accomplishment (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions requiring…
