Schedule: On Call
- Flexible Schedule

Monday through Thursday: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm

Friday: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm

The substitute para educator supports diverse learners in a language-based classroom. The substitute para educator works alongside a multidisciplinary team to incorporate therapeutic strategies and curricula that support whole child development, including communication, academic and social‑emotional domains. All instruction is provided in a nurturing environment through a multisensory learning approach, incorporating nature-based education. The substitute para educator will work across classrooms as assigned to meet the needs of students and best support instructional staff as needed.

• Helps prepare materials needed for instructional activities.
• Helps prepare the classroom area daily for instruction, including set up and clean up.
• Assists in small and large group lessons utilizing the schools adopted curriculum or lesson plan as guided by the classroom teacher/speech‑language pathologist.
• Provides classroom and behavior management support as guided by the classroom teacher and/or speech‑language pathologist.
• Supports instruction through the arts—Drama, Music/Choir, Art, PE, Library, and Nature Studies.
• Collaborates with teachers from various disciplines to promote a child’s development in all areas.
• Assists with morning and afternoon carpool, as assigned.
• May lead the class when the teacher/speech‑language pathologist is absent or serve as a substitute for instructional staff members depending on your assignment.
• Utilizes technology for various resources that support instruction and home‑to‑school connections.
• Maintains communication with staff and administration.
• Fulfills professional development requirements as outlined by the school.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficient in MS Office applications, familiarity with Apple iPad/tablets. Willingness to learn applications and educational software.
