Overview

Under general supervision, responsible for the functional management of the Integrated Library Management System (OCLC World Share Management Services) and coordinates the use and integration of electronic research resources and technology in faculty teaching and research and in library collections and services. Oversees library operations and services during weekend and evening hours. Teaches two sections of legal research courses during the academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the library’s integrated library management system, including software upgrades and related activities.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for issues related to the operation and implementation of the integrated library management system.
  • Participate in IT projects pertinent to the skills and interests of the Systems Librarian.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends and developments in library automation and information technologies.
  • Assume primary responsibility for all library services during evenings and weekends, coordinating and supervising circulation, reserve, collection management and photocopy services; ensure compliance with University and library policies and procedures.
  • Provide general legal reference and research services to students, faculty, and public patrons, with emphasis on electronic resources; perform online database searches.
  • Manage development and teaching of computer-assisted legal research instructional programs; provide electronic current awareness service for faculty.
  • Participate in evaluating and selecting electronic resources for library collection development.
  • Assist in developing and updating the content of the law library web pages.
  • Serve as library liaison with database vendors and to faculty regarding electronic research projects.
  • Recommend policies and procedures and coordinate user services with other library departments.
  • Prepare user aids such as bibliographies, user guides, pathfinders, exhibits, newsletters, and blogs; develop documentation and guides for electronic resources.
  • Assist in training and supervising student workers for the department.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education

Juris Doctorate degree with two (2) years of Information Technology experience OR Master of Library Science (MLS) OR Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) OR Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS).

Required Licensing/Certification

Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.

Previous law library or library work preferred.
