Adjunct Faculty, Drama

Purpose and Scope

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Essential Job Functions

Teach Drama courses at a variety of times and locations.

Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.

Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.

Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.

Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.

Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress.

Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.

Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.

Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

• Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and the effective use of technology.
• Use effective strategies to engage students in their learning.

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. The employee sits comfortably to perform work and may engage in some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (e.g., papers, books, small parts) and driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Use PC workstations in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
• Work is performed in climate‑controlled classroom and/or lab environments with minimal hazards.
• Hours vary depending on class time; mandatory meetings with classes must be attended at all scheduled times and must be available to students outside of class instruction.

Required Qualifications

• MA or MFA degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama.

Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
