Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
• Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within two years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the  school year
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
• Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

• Completion of student teaching or approved internship

• Serve a diverse population of students who may be participating in state/federal programs as well as general education.
• Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

• Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
• Confer with and foster professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators on a regular basis per building and district guidelines.
• Plan and participate in all meetings and provide appropriate documentation for students regarding admissions, reviews, progress, grades, dismissals, conferences, etc.
• Comply with state and federal laws, district policies, rules, regulations and administrative directives as they exist or may hereafter be amended.

• Plan and teach a program of study in accordance with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), district mandates and curricula; multiple preparations (courses) are necessary for many.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill TEA and district curriculum requirements; show written evidence of preparation as required. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
• Implement instructional, linguistic, and/or modifications and accommodations per ARD, LPAC, Section 504, and RtI committees for students receiving services under all district, state and federal guidelines.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers and interventionists to modify curricula as needed for struggling general education students and special education students according to IEP guidelines.
• Work with other staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Diagnose the learning needs of all students and seek the assistance of building and district leadership for appropriate intervention methods, techniques and strategies.

• Assess ongoing accomplishments and needs of students, maintain appropriate records, provide immediate feedback and progress reports per building and district guidelines. Administer state assessments as appropriate to student population. Small group instruction is used.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
