Responsible to support the instructional program and guidance of students needing special education services.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or an out‑of‑state teaching certificate appropriate for the position.
• Special education certification required.
• Certification must satisfy federal and/or state law requirements for qualification and continued eligibility.

• Extensive knowledge of effective behavioral practices for students with severe developmental disabilities.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and monitoring complex behavior intervention and communication plans.
• Expertise in data collection systems to develop instructional and behavioral strengths, needs, and goals for individualized instruction and progress monitoring.
• Training in de‑escalation and restraint techniques as required by the district.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in the effective use of technology.
• Physical capacity to meet the needs of students with physical disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development.
• Ability to work effectively with both adults and children.

• Minimum of four (4) years of classroom experience required.

• Participate in the identification and evaluation of learner competencies.
• Recommend appropriate goals and objectives for learner needs.
• Assist in developing and writing students' IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans; support teachers in writing effective goals and plans.
• Support instructional objectives based on students' learning styles.
• Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity.
• Provide constructive coaching and feedback to teachers.
• Provide parent coordination services to facilitate the home‑school connection of individual interventions.
• Facilitate ARD Committee meetings; may serve as the Local Education Agency representative.
• Provide district‑wide training in de‑escalation and restraint techniques according to district methodology.

• Support students to improve behavior goals and social skills.
• Be a positive role model for students and support the district’s mission.
• Assist with the needs of students with complex developmental disabilities.

• Support teachers in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Attend required meetings and complete required reports.
• Support campus administration in supervising all students.
• Conduct conferences on school and student issues with students, teachers, and parents.

• Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Collaborate with others to provide for learner needs.
• Consult with parents and appropriate school personnel concerning each student’s intellectual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

• Obtain district‑required training to become a trainer in de‑escalation and restraint techniques.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills; keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations for classroom teachers.
• Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and documents.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
