HS Central Bookroom/Workroom/Clerical Aide @ Hastings HS

Primary

Purpose:

To maintain an accurate textbook record system and maximize the return of all textbooks. To contribute to the efficient operation of a school office so that it can play its effective part in the education process.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate interest in and aptitude for work to be performed
  • PC literate including Word and spreadsheet knowledge
  • Ability to multi-task activities
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders

Responsibilities and Duties:

Program Management

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of textbooks.
  • Issue and collect textbooks.
  • Initiate and clear individual textbook records.
  • Generate lost textbook record reports.
  • Process District delivery and state return of textbooks.
  • Maintain a secure environment for textbooks.
  • Supervise and oversee general operations of the central textbook room.

Clerical Support

  • Create a variety of documents on the computer for faculty and staff.
  • Operate the copier and other machinery located in the workroom/office suites.
  • Sort and distribute campus mail.
  • Store supplies for campus use.
  • Order supplies and keep stock filled.
  • Return work to faculty in a timely manner.
  • Work with faculty in a courteous manner.
  • Cover for other staff members as assigned by administration.

Other

  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws and regulations, and local board policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Non-Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.

Tools/Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture:
Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion:
Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head

Lifting:
Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds);
May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment:
May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors

Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Range Min. $24,052 Mid. $28,519 Max.$32,988 (Based onpreviousexperience)

Salaries aredeterminedby the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.

Salary is based on 195 days. If working less than
195 days, the salary will be less.
