Company Description

Youth Development Center (YDC) is a non-profit organization that provides a free after-school academic enrichment program for at-risk students in grades K-5 in Northeast Houston. Our program operates Monday through Thursday during the academic year, offering results-oriented academic development in classrooms led by certified teachers.

Role Description

The bilingual front desk assistant is a part-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX, supporting the daily operations of Youth Development Center. This role involves checking students in upon arrival and out upon departure, answering and directing phone calls in English and Spanish, light administrative tasks, responding to inquiries with professional and respectful communication, and other duties as assigned. The role requires consistent on-site presence during program hours and a commitment to YDC’s mission of serving at-risk youth.

The hours are 3:00 pm to 6:45 pm Monday - Thursday. YDC is aligned with HISD’s academic calendar. The pay is $16 - $17/hour.

Qualifications
  • Professional Phone Etiquette and Communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and bilingually (English and Spanish) with students, families, staff, and partners.
  • Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Word, Excel, spreadsheets, email) and comfort learning new systems for student and program management.
  • Ability to work on-site in Houston, TX during program hours, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality of student and family information.
  • Prior experience in an educational, non-profit, or youth-serving environment is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in administration, education, or related fields is an asset.
  • Commitment to YDC’s mission and values, with a patient, culturally responsive, and service-oriented approach to working with children and families.
