Position Title: LSA - PT MS Spanish Teacher

Position Location: Lutheran South Academy/Lutheran Education Association of Houston

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Campus Principal/Head of School

Position

Purpose:

The Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a classroom setting that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

* This position is for the  school year

1 class of MS Spanish 1A

Everyday (M-F) from 12:45pm-1:35pm (Could be changed to every other day from 12:00pm-1:35pm)

Job Requirements
  • Effectively plan and teach the subject and level assigned.
  • Exhibit a fundamental knowledge of child development.
  • Create classroom routines by use of established and research based instructional techniques.
  • Set measurable, ambitious, and attainable developmental goals for students during each assessment term.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Plan lessons using objectives for learning and teach critical thinking and problem solving to students.

  • Establish positive teacher-student rapport while motivating students.
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, and the administration regarding student progress or deficits in a timely manner.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Greet parents and students with salutations and smiles.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical, and Christ-like way.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain student participation in learning activities.
  • Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback or work.
  • Cooperate with and support the administration in creating and implementing policies and procedures aimed to enhance school operations.
  • Recognize the need for good public relations and represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the community.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homeworks, assessments, and assignments.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Work as a team player exhibiting professional behavior and a positive attitude with leadership, staff, the church, volunteers, children, and families that reflects positively on the school and is consistent with school policies, practices, and code of ethics.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward students, staff, and families.
  • Willingly fulfill other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study that is pertinent to education.
  • A valid Texas teaching certificate for the subject and level assigned is preferred.
  • Teaching experience in the desired discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Able to define problems and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Must maintain a high standard of ethics and honesty.
  • Maintain accurate, competent, and efficient performance.
  • Guard the confidentiality of personnel and student information.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of management, faculty, and staff along with outside services.
  • Encourage a sense of teamwork and enthusiasm for the Christ-centered ministry of the school.
