CTE Career & College Readiness Coordinator @ Instruction Department

Primary

Purpose:

Provide leadership and support to campuses in the implementation of CTE program of study through Perkins funded initiatives that improve student achievement, increase access for special populations, expand dual credit and workforce opportunities, strengthen postsecondary transitions, and support continuous program improvement and accountability.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Counseling Certification with Career and Technical Education experience

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Perkins V requirements, Programs of Study, and CTE accountability indicators
  • Knowledge of CCMR, Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs), and dual credit pathways
  • Understanding of TEA CTE program requirements and workforce alignment
  • Ability to analyze student performance and program data
  • Strong communication, organization, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop partnerships with institutions of higher education and industry representatives

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience in Career and Technical Education, counseling, college and career readiness

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of state-approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs of Study.
  • Support initiatives that expand student access to high-quality CTE Programs of Study through aligned course sequences, well-defined career pathways, and equitable participation opportunities, with an emphasis on removing barriers and improving outcomes for special populations as defined under Perkins V.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and expanding Programs of Study aligned with regional workforce needs, labor market trends, and student interests.
  • Support implementation of Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA)-driven improvement strategies to enhance program quality and student outcomes.
  • Support students in successfully progressing through CTE Programs of Study and achieving key milestones, including concentrator and completer status, Industry-Based Certification attainment, dual credit participation, postsecondary readiness, College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) outcomes, and other state and federal accountability indicators.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Perkins-funded initiatives and CTE Programs of Study using student outcome data and performance indicators.
  • Provide training, guidance, and technical assistance to secondary counselors regarding Programs of Study, career pathways, Industry-Based Certifications, graduation plans, post-secondary opportunities, and career advising.
  • Collaborate with counseling staff to provide CTE specific career and academic advising that relates to CTE Programs of Study and increase enrollment, completion, credential attainment, and successful transitions to postsecondary education and careers.
  • Support communication efforts that ensure students and families have access to accurate and current information regarding CTE Programs of Study, industry-based credentials, work-based experiences and transitions to postsecondary opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with colleges, universities, employers, workforce agencies, and industry representatives to expand dual credit opportunities, work-based learning, and post-secondary pathways.
  • Identify and support workforce-aligned opportunities that strengthen student transitions to postsecondary education, training, and employment.
  • Coordinate CTSO organizations, CTE ambassador programs, and outreach activities that increase student engagement and promote approved Programs of Study.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate professional learning related to Programs of Study implementation, career pathway advising, Industry-Based Certifications, postsecondary readiness, Perkins accountability, and related CTE initiatives.
  • Assist with the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of Perkins-funded activities to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Utilize technology and data management systems to support program implementation, communication, reporting, and collaboration.
  • Comply with district policies, administrative procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties related to Career and Technical Education and Perkins grant implementation.
  • Develop and coordinate professional development for CTE programs of study, workforce alignment, Industry-Based certifications, and postsecondary transitions.

Other:

  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
