POSITION SUMMARY

The 21st Century Site Coordinator is responsible for designing and implementing a before and after- school program, as well as a summer school program to help students improve in academics, attendance, behavior, promotion rates and graduation rates.

This position is grant funded. Funding will be based on satisfactory progress of prior year compliance with objectives and activities, and on general budget approval by the commissioner of education and appropriations by the United States Congress

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Organize and work closely with school administration to implement program
  • Design and implement high-quality program services
  • Promote regular student participation, as defined by program requirements
  • Coordinate data collection, entry and evaluation of program at the center
  • Organize supplies, materials, equipment, and transportation for center as needed
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of center staff/volunteers
  • Lead and facilitate on-going planning efforts including community outreach
  • Manage the recruitment and retention of students in the program
  • Attend all required meetings, conferences, and trainings
  • Meet all compliance items including effective data & fiscal management
  • All other duties as assigned
GRANT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Participants will demonstrate educational and social benefits and positive behavioral changes
  • By the first and subsequent years of the project, increase the number of students that participate in the after-school program
  • Increase the overall academic performance of students in core skills as measured by formal and informal assessments
  • Increase improvement of participating students’ social and conflict resolution
  • Increase participation in the number, variety, and quality of after school activities
  • Parents of participating students will demonstrate increased involvement in their child’s education
  • Offer a range of high-quality educational, developmental, and recreational services at the site
  • Offer homework help and academic clubs through Learning Labs
  • Integrate social and emotional learning concepts and strategies in enrichment and support activities
  • Provide college and career exploration and youth leadership opportunities
  • Establish and maintain partnerships within the community that continue to increase levels of community collaboration in planning, implementation, and sustaining programs
  • Offer services to parents that meet parental involvement programming as specified with the CASE for Kids Family Engagement Specialist
  • Manage the software program used by HCDE to track student attendance.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in applicable area preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, parents, and other stakeholders
