Position Summary

The University of Houston Law Center invites applications for a non‑promotion‑eligible, non‑tenure track, full‑time Professor of Practice position focused on bar exam success.

Initial one‑year contract with no presumption of renewal. Reappointment depends on performance and need. The role is part of the Law Center’s effort to enhance bar exam success for its graduates.

Responsibilities
  • Teach one or more sections of the Law Center’s bar success courses (e.g., Legal Analysis and Writing – LAW, Professional Writing Strategies – PWS, Legal Methods).
  • Provide bar prep workshops, assist clinical professors with pedagogical support, work with students one‑on‑one, and carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school.
  • Excellent record or potential for bar exam success teaching and student engagement.
  • Eligible for no time toward tenure at the University of Houston.

Applicants must hold a J.D. and be able to demonstrate a strong track record in bar exam preparation and student instruction.

Benefits & Appointment Details

Benefits‑eligible non‑tenure track appointment: one‑year contract period with no presumption of renewal. Future reappointments based on performance.

Employees must have a home address in Texas for the duration of the appointment.

Additional Information
