Adjunct Faculty, English & Communications

• Teach assigned undergraduate English and Communications courses using a pre-designed curriculum
• Provide high-quality instruction using professional expertise
• Enhance curriculum effectiveness through technology and videos
• Teach in both in-person and asynchronous online modalities
• Conduct 11 weekly, two-hour in-person sessions at the Northwest Houston campus
• Maintain assigned office hours
• Use the online learning platform to enrich the online course component
• Provide timely student support and feedback via email, phone, text, and office hours
• Establish evaluation standards and explain them to students
• Adhere to University policies and procedures
• Attend required faculty meetings, workshops, and training
• Coach and mentor students while building a classroom community

• Master’s degree in English, English Education, or Communications required
• Alternatively, Master’s degree in a related area with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter hours of graduate coursework in Composition, Communications, and/or Literature required
• Professional certification in the discipline specialty, if applicable
• College-level teaching experience strongly preferred
• Online teaching experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point
• Strong computer skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic evaluation
• Proficiency in oral presentation, planning, and organizing course objectives
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Effective time management skills
• Ability to travel weekly to required locations
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Ability to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Demonstrates expertise in teaching English and Communications at the undergraduate level, utilizing technology to enhance curriculum effectiveness and providing comprehensive student support. Proficient in academic evaluation and skilled in oral presentation and course planning.
