Provides comprehensive advising to a diverse student population with moderate independence. Handles more complex cases and supports student success initiatives.
- 1. Advises students on academic planning and degree completion strategies, as well as academic progress concerns (probation,retention).
- 2. Analyzes degree audits and recommends solutions.
- 3. Identifies at-risk students and develops intervention plans.
- 4. Participates in recruitment, advising workshops, and outreach.
- 5. Collaborates with faculty and departments on student issues.
- 6. Maintains caseload of students and tracks outcomes.
- 7. Processes Veteran's Administration paperwork, writes graduation verification letters, and provides financial aid appeals.
- 8. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.
- 9. Performs other job-related duties as required.
This position works in the Department of Accountancy & Taxation at the
C. T. Bauer College of Business. This position engages with students to advise them on academic requirements for degree progress, course selection, policies, procedures, and resources based on an assessment of individual student needs.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Position includes the following responsibilities but not limited to:- Experience in Higher Education
- Experience directly in academic advising
Education will be considered inlieu of experience.
MQ:
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a collegeor university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
