Instructor Respiratory Therapist – Adjunct Pool
Houston, Texas – System Wide.
The University seeks a qualified respiratory therapist to serve as an adjunct instructor. The instructor will develop and teach courses in respiratory therapy, support student learning, advise students, participate in professional development, and engage in institutional and community service.
SUMMARYProvide expertise and knowledge that supports the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses according to higher education standards, teach using effective methodologies, and support student engagement. The instructor will teach a maximum load of equated hours each semester in qualified areas and participate as a part‑time instructor in department, division, and college activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Teaching
:
Demonstrate skill and knowledge in teaching the discipline, continuously improve instruction, plan and use diverse teaching methods, evaluate student progress, maintain accurate records, recommend textbooks, teach courses as needed, use technology effectively. - Academic Advising
:
Maintain professional relationships with students and others, provide office hours and electronic communication, advise on instructional or program issues, present program information, maintain a website, assist the chair with advising activities. - Professional Development
:
Establish annual objectives for growth, stay current in discipline, learn technologies, participate in evaluation processes. - Institutional and Community Service
:
Participate in institutional events, committee meetings, departmental and system meetings, adhere to policies, involve in recruitment and community activities, support accreditation, assist in curriculum review, and articulate courses with other institutions.
Education
:
Associate’s degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Experience
:
Minimum of one year of college‑level teaching experience (preferred). Three to ten years of related work experience required.
