Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, and program processes.
Key Responsibilities- Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
- Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
- Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
- Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written materials and documentation.
- Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
- Might administer grants and grant‑related communications, scholarships and other operations.
- Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
- Might serve as property custodian for the department.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Plays a key role in promoting departmental academic programs, enhancing student recruitment efforts, and creating meaningful engagement opportunities for current and prospective students.
- Develops and implements strategic marketing, recruitment, student engagement, and alumni outreach initiatives that increase awareness of undergraduate and graduate programs within the Department.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners to strengthen enrollment pipelines, support student success, cultivate alumni engagement, and foster a vibrant departmental community.
- Creates and manages content for websites, social media platforms, newsletters, recruitment materials, and other communication channels.
- Develops and implements student recruitment plans, including open houses, campus visits, college fairs, community outreach events, and virtual information sessions.
- Plans, coordinates, and evaluates student engagement events, including orientations, networking opportunities (Research Days and Lecture Series), scholarship and recognition ceremonies, and special events (HHP Games).
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to highlight program accomplishments, student success stories, research activities, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Monitors and analyzes recruitment, enrollment, and engagement metrics to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Manages departmental branding initiatives and ensures consistency in messaging and visual identity across platforms.
- Develops and supports alumni engagement initiatives, including alumni events, networking opportunities, and communications designed to strengthen alumni connections with the department.
- Maintains alumni contact and engagement records and collaborates with university advancement and alumni relations offices to support outreach and fundraising efforts.
- Manages special projects and initiatives that advance departmental priorities and student success outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Higher Education Administration, Event Management, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
- Three years of professional experience in marketing, recruitment, student affairs, event management, communications, alumni relations, or higher education outreach.
- Experience in higher education recruitment, enrollment management, or student engagement.
- Experience with social media management, digital marketing, and content development.
- Education considered in lieu of experience.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job‑related 4‑year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in‑depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience:
