Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Special Education Teacher role based in Houston, TX. The Special Education Teacher will implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapt curriculum for students with diverse learning needs, and deliver instruction in both small-group and one-on-one settings. Responsibilities include ongoing assessment of student progress, collaboration with general education teachers, counselors, and support staff, and regular communication with families and caregivers.

The teacher will maintain accurate documentation, support behavior management plans, and integrate appropriate accommodations and modifications into online and in-person learning activities. The role also involves contributing to school-wide initiatives that foster inclusion, social-emotional growth, and academic success for students with exceptionalities.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to monitor IEPs, including differentiated instruction, progress tracking, and data-driven adjustments.
  • Strong classroom management and behavior support skills, with experience using positive behavior interventions and restorative practices.
  • Comfort with digital learning platforms and educational technology, including tools that support accessibility and synchronous online instruction.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, multidisciplinary teams, and school leadership.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements at the state and federal levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field; relevant teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Special Education preferred.
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with a range of disabilities (e.g., learning differences, autism spectrum disorders, emotional and behavioral needs) is highly beneficial.
