Reports to:

Music Director

School of Rock Summer Creek is hiring an energetic, creative, and nurturing Little Wings & Rookies Music Instructor to introduce young children to the joy of music through singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, games, and play.

This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young children and can create a fun, structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate music experience.

The Role

You will help young students develop:

  • Rhythm, beat, tempo, and musical awareness
  • Singing and vocal confidence
  • Movement and coordination
  • Listening and following directions
  • Basic musical concepts and instrument exploration
  • Creativity and self-expression
  • Confidence, participation, and social skills
  • Early performance and stage-readiness skills

This is not a traditional preschool classroom and it's not simply a music lesson. We expect engaging, intentional instruction that helps children build both a love of music and the confidence to participate.

Core Responsibilities
  • Deliver fun, structured, age-appropriate music classes
  • Prepare engaging lesson plans using songs, movement, rhythm games, instruments, and creative activities
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and well-managed classroom
  • Adapt activities to different ages, personalities, and developmental levels
  • Encourage participation and build confidence through positive reinforcement
  • Communicate professionally with parents and staff
  • Track and communicate student progress consistently
  • Collaborate with the Music Director and other instructors
  • Prepare students for age-appropriate performances and School of Rock events
Non-Negotiables
  • On time = early (15 minutes before first lesson)
  • Same-day lesson notes, every class
  • Prepared, intentional lesson plans
  • Professional, proactive communication with parents and staff
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment
  • Be patient, energetic, and fully engaged with students

  • Strong musical ability and comfort singing and/or playing an instrument
  • Ability to create age-appropriate musical activities
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • High level of patience, energy, creativity, and enthusiasm
  • High level of reliability and professionalism
Preferred
  • Education in Early Childhood Education, Music Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or related field
  • Experience teaching music to young children

Not a Fit If You
